The Underbody Air Guide Elements were developed for the BMW G8X platform to improve flow stability beneath the vehicle. The system includes adjustable front and rear spats and inboard strakes positioned behind the front wheels. Air is directed away from the underbody to reduce turbulence and pressure variation.
All components are manufactured from 35% glass fiber-reinforced nylon. The material was selected for its dimensional stability, resistance to impact, and suitability for prolonged exposure to thermal and mechanical load.
The front and rear spats feature slotted mounting geometry to allow for adjustment based on ride height, tire width, and alignment. The inboard strakes are fixed in position and mount directly to existing structural points behind the front wheel arch.
Clearance, mounting behavior, and airflow routing were evaluated in relation to the factory underbody structure. The system is designed to operate without interference to surrounding components or service access.
